Both Householders and Homesharers pay a monthly fee to Lightshare which is used to cover the costs of facilitating, supporting and monitoring the ongoing match. Fees are payable for as long as the Homeshare agreement is in place.
The Householder’s contribution of £55 is a monthly fee that commences from the date a Homesharer moves in. This support works out just over £1.80 per day.
There is a small initial registration fee of £40 for Householders which covers the costs of your inital consultation, accommodation checks and work involved in finding, vetting, and matching potential sharers.
The Sharer’s contribution covers cost of being matched with Householder and ongoing monitoring and support.
Homesharers are required to pay a monthly fee of £240 (or £320 per month for couples) to cover the costs of supporting and monitoring the ongoing match. This fee is payable for as long as the Homeshare agreement is in place. On signing the agreement, a deposit of £240 is payable as well as a fee of £40 to cover the costs of completing your DBS check and vetting (e.g references).
There is no money exchanged between the Householder and Homesharer except for reimbursement of shopping and a capped contribution towards household bills.
