This room is being advertised on behalf of a friendly older gentleman in his 80s who is seeking someone to share his home at a low cost, in exchange for some light help around the home.
In return for low cost accommodation of £170 pcm (plus a small contribution to bills), he would like approximately 10 hours of support each week. This will providing companionship (friendly chats) cooking, helping with the odd cup of tea, light cleaning( rubbish out/ wiping down surfaces) in addition to being present overnight five nights per week. No help is needed overnight, it’s just to be around in case there was ever an emergency.
The Householder is an ex military officer and loves sharing about his time in the army. He is also very keen on golf and Rugby. He also has a very good sense of humour. He has declining vision and would welcome someone around who can help with the tasks mentioned above. There is a cleaner who attends every fortnight. The gentleman also has a PA and a supportive family network close by.
The room is a large double and furnished with a bed, built in wardrobe, desk and chest of drawers.. You would have access to your own bathroom and toilet as well as your own fridge/freezer.
The ideal homesharer would be female, friendly, kind, a good listener, willing to help and and tidy. Someone who is able to cook would be preferred. The householder has requested a female sharer as he would feel more comfortable with this.
As part of our Homesharing scheme, you will need to have/or apply for a recent DBS check and provide two references (DBS is a cost of £30 if you do not have one already). To apply, please download and complete an application from our website. The minimum term is 6 months, however a long term Homesharer would be ideal.
The only fees payable are our monthly fees of £170pcm (so you will only pay £170 per month for your room plus bills approx £30-£40pcm). A deposit of £340 is also required.
